TN Recycling Coalition Awards Criteria

Celebrate the people and programs moving Tennessee toward a cleaner, circular future. The TN Recycling Coalition (TRC) Awards recognize excellence in recycling, waste reduction, reuse, organics, and education across our state.

2026 Recycler of the Year Awards

The Tennessee Recycling Coalition is
pleased to announce the 2026 Recycler of the Year Awards, which were presented
at the recent Tennessee Sustainability Conference.

2026 Memorial Award

The Tom Hattle Memorial Award

Presented to an outstanding teacher or community leader who gives their all to promote recycling.

Nominees should meet the following criteria:

Demonstrates success of waste prevention/recycling efforts, in terms of numbers of people affected, tonnage diverted, new programs initiated and other measures.
Illustrates the positive impact the individual has had on his/her community, institution or field.
Describes the innovative way in which the organization found to recycle.
Describes the factors that lead to the need to innovate.
Describes the results and the ongoing sustainability of the project.

The Tennessee Recycling Coalition, with its Board of Directors is pleased to present the nomination criteria for this year’s Recycler of the Year (ROY) awards. Participants are encouraged to nominate themselves or others and submit the awards nomination no later than 5:00 pm, June 20, 2026. Please be sure to note that this year, TRC will host an awards ceremony at Park Vista Hotel on Thursday at noon, August 20, 2026. Winners are encouraged to attend.

How to Enter:
All applications submitted must be current projects in the past two years within Tennessee. Please place your award submission in the appropriate category folder of the Dropbox links.
